Volunteer

Every October, runners from across the country and around the world travel to Chicago to experience this international city by running through it at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Whether you’re running the Chicago Marathon, cheering on friends or looking to be part of the excitement of race weekend, we invite you to volunteer with us at the Abbott Chicago 5K.

Volunteer registration for the 2026 event is closed as of Friday, October 2, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. Central Time. Please note, unregistered individuals are not allowed to volunteer, and walk-up registrations and accompanied minors are not permitted.

Registered volunteers will receive a detailed race week confirmation email that includes your check-in location, transportation recommendations, preparation tips and more! The email will be sent from noreply@cemevent.com with the subject line: “Race Week Confirmation Email – 2026 Abbott Chicago 5K”. Please email volunteer@chicago5k.com if you do not receive it by Wednesday, October 7.

VOLUNTEER REWARDS

All volunteers will receive volunteer reward points when they check-in to volunteer. Reward Points can be redeemed for a variety of merchandise items. To learn more, visit the Volunteer Rewards Program webpage.
