Volunteer

Every October, runners from across the country and around the world travel to Chicago to experience this international city by running through it at the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Whether you’re running the Chicago Marathon, cheering on friends or looking to be part of the excitement of race weekend, we invite you to volunteer with us at the Abbott Chicago 5K.

All volunteers are required to register online individually by 11:59 p.m. (U.S. Central Time) on Friday, October 3, 2025.

RACE DAY
Saturday, October 11

Start area volunteers
Volunteers may assist with any of the following tasks: start hydration or start corrals.

Finish area volunteers
Volunteers may assist with any of the following tasks: finish line runner refreshment or finisher merchandise.

Course volunteers
Volunteers on the course will support either the Aid Station or Course Marshals.

5K Race day individual opportunities

VOLUNTEER GROUPS
Can you recruit 10 or more volunteers to support the Abbott Chicago 5K? Group leaders are needed to recruit volunteers, share assignment and registration information and keep their group on task and organized the day of the event. Complete the group leader application today!

Please note, non-profit groups, clubs or organizations that check in 20 or more volunteers on race day or at the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo and meet event qualifications are eligible for a modest donation starting at $300.

MEDICAL VOLUNTEERS
Medical volunteers will support runners in Grant Park or on course as they shake out their nerves before the big race.

VOLUNTEER REWARDS
