Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the 2017 Advocate Health Care International Chicago 5K! Current volunteer opportunities are listed below. Volunteers should review the volunteer guidelines before registering.

Volunteers are required to register online by midnight, Monday, October 2.


Abbott Health & Fitness Expo Opportunities

Friday, October 6

Participant packet pick-up
Volunteers will welcome participants to the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo, verify their bib tag and confirm their participant information before releasing the packet to them. Volunteers must communicate well and be organized.

Race day opportunities

Saturday, October 7

Federal Plaza volunteers
The Advocate Health Care International Chicago 5K will step off from Federal Plaza in the heart of downtown Chicago.  Volunteers are needed to hand out bibs and water to participants before the race and to keep participants organized as they move towards the start line.

Grant Park volunteers
The Advocate Health Care International Chicago 5K course will run through downtown taking runners on a 3.1-mile tour of Chicago and ending in Grant Park. Volunteers are needed at the finish line to distribute merchandise and refreshments to runners and to assist with traffic flow.

Volunteers who join us for the Advocate Health Care International Chicago 5K and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon will be entered into a raffle for a pair of Nike running shoes! Volunteers must register and check-in for both of the following volunteer opportunities in order to qualify:

Volunteer groups

Can you recruit a group of 25 or more volunteers to support the Advocate Health Care International Chicago 5K? Group leaders are needed to recruit volunteers, share assignment and registration information and keep their group on task and organized the day of the event. Public transportation
Volunteer check-in locations are easily accessible by public transportation. We encourage volunteers to take public transportation for a greener Chicago, and to ease race day congestion. Please visit transitchicago.com for CTA train (“L”) or bus service and metrarail.com for Metra train service and to view re-route notices.
