STREET CLOSURE NOTIFICATION

The Abbott Chicago 5K will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026.

Please be advised that the following streets will be closed to traffic on Saturday, October 10, between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. as more than 10,000 runners pass through the area:

Ida B. Wells Dr., between Columbus Dr. and Michigan Ave.
E. Congress Plaza Dr., between Ida B. Wells Dr. and Michigan Ave.
Michigan Ave., between Ida B. Wells Dr. and Balbo Dr.
Harrison St., between State St. and Franklin St.
State St., between E. Harrison St. and W. Harrison St.
Franklin St., between Harrison St. and Adams St.
Van Buren St., between Wacker Dr. to Franklin St.
Southbound Wacker Dr., between Michigan Ave. and Van Buren St.
Northbound Wacker Dr., between Adams St. and Michigan Ave.

Jackson Blvd., between Wacker Dr. and Franklin St. will be closed from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Wacker Dr. between Adams St. and Van Buren St. will be closed from 5 a.m. to 11 a.m.

No parking will be allowed on these streets starting at 1 a.m. on Saturday, October 10. Vehicles that are not removed from the street by that time will be ticketed and towed. For inquiries about towed vehicles, call 312.744.4444.

Michigan Ave. north of Ida B. Wells will remain open.

The event is working with the Chicago Police Department to ensure that street closures follow a rolling pattern, so that as the final runners pass through, the streets will reopen to allow traffic to return to normal as quickly as possible.

Please make adjustments to your schedule to avoid any inconvenience on race day.

AVAILABLE RACE DAY ROUTES

These routes are scheduled to be available; however, additional streets may be closed by the Chicago Police Department or event officials if deemed necessary.

TO BYPASS THE LOOP

Lower Wacker Drive will remain open. Please note, the southbound exit ramps and Randolph Street and Harrison Street will be closed.

TO ACCESS THE LOOP

From the West

• Take I-290 to Ida B. Wells Drive and turn left at Dearborn Street or State Street
• Take the Lower Wacker Drive exit off of I-290. Exit at either Post Place or Garvey Court and turn left onto Lake Street.

From the North

• Take Michigan Avenue to access Lake, Randolph, Madison or Adams Streets.

From the East

• Take Randolph Street.

From the South

• Take I-90/94 to I-290. Take I-290 to Ida B. Wells Drive and turn left at Dearborn Street or State Street.
• Take the Lower Wacker Drive exit off of I-290. Exit at either Post Place or Garvey Court and turn left onto Lake Street.
• Take DuSable Lake Shore Drive and exit at Randolph Street.

To Access Millennium Park Garages

• Access is available from Intermediate Randolph Street and Intermediate Columbus Drive.
